Aging Anxiety is just part of the aging process. Our "Active Agers" and "Experts" in the group have discussed with us what "Anxiety Triggers" show up in our lives as we age, and how to handle them.

Anxiety Triggers Include: Retirement, feeling a loss of purpose. The loss of a loved one. Worries about declining health. Worries about money, and the ability to keep moving on. Reduced mobility and chronic illness. Fear of being alone.

Recommended Lifestyle Changes to Help Manage Aging Anxiety:

Exercise! The #1 suggestion by our Active Agers here! Yoga, walking, swimming, walking up stairs, or biking are all great ways to "Get out of your Head" and start lifting those clouds of anxiety that keep creeping in! Purchase some good walking shoes and get going! It's also a great way to stay connected and socialize! An added anti-anxiety benefit!

Diet -- More Fruits and Vegetables! Diet is a huge part of Active Aging! The better you eat the better you will feel. Incorporate fresh fruit, vegetables, foods with Omega 3's like Salmon, and a protein shake in the morning to kick off a great day!

Music! -- Put on Some of That Great Classic Rock! Our group here is "Huge" on incorporating music both live and streamed into your daily aging routine. Boomers grew up with some of the best music ever recorded! Music gets you moving, signing, smiling, and brings back those old memories of where you were 50 years ago when the actual band was out playing! Remember - "Woodstock!"

Mindfulness -- Think YOGA! Mindfulness allows you to "Unplug" and put things into perspective. Deep breathing techniques, Yoga, Thai Chi, and yes Walking, all help the brain unplug and enhance a feeling of well being and peace. Our experts here all have a way to include Mindfulness in their daily routines, It Works!

Social Connections --- I know we keep beating this drum! But, when you are feeling down, beat up, lonely, what better way to get back on track then getting out and meeting friends for some live music, laughs, and just being there! Get out and have some fun!
