#1 -- The Personal Computer -- The PC!
Think Steve Jobs (Apple Computers) Bill Gates (Microsoft) both Boomers! The foundations were laid for smart phones, laptops, cloud computing, all things the younger generations take for granted today. Remember the "Dial Phone?"
#2 -- The INTERNET! Yes the Internet!
Way before today's young "Influencers" or Morons as we call them! There were Information Scientists (Boomers) who actually had brains and the genius and ability to create something for all.
These scientists were all born in the 40's and 50's!
#3 -- The Video Game Industry! Yes Video Games!
Video games actually started as a Boomer Hobby! Remember, PONG. Atari, arcade games? The industry was created from scratch and is a multi-billion industry today. Thanks the innovation and forward thinking of Boomers Engineers.
#4 -- The Environmental Movement!
The first "Earth Day" was held in 1970! From recycling to clean water, Boomers were starting to upset the industrial polluters all across the globe.
#5 -- The Civil Rights and Equal Rights Movements!
Boomers marched for change in the Mid-60's and beyond. Today's social justice language owes a lot to the early courage of the 60's Generation.
#6 -- EMAIL! and Today's Digital Communication.
Visionary Boomers helped created the first "Send" buttons, (hard to believe now!) The first EMAIL was sent in 1971.
#7 -- Today's Modern Workplace Culture.
Remote work, casual clothes (think the 50's dress code) Boomers challenged rigid work cultures and lobbied hard for a voice in the corporate workplace! Work - Life Balance was a term created in the 70's!
#8 -- The Music Revolution -- Think Woodstock in 1969.
From Classic Rock to Punk and Soul Music, Boomers shaped not just the genres but the way music was recorded, distributed, and consumes, LP's 8-Track Tapes, Cassette Tapes, now streaming services.
#9 -- Home Tech (Microwave Ovens!)
Microwaves, VCR's, remote controls, these gadgets were all invented by Boomers! Household Convenience was important for two income households. These products helped.
#10 -- The DIY Movement!
Long before UTube and Streaming Services, Boomers were out getting sweaty, dirty, climbing roofs and tree's, painting their houses, fixing their cars. Do it Yourself was the song of the generation. The DIY Movement also produced the "Personal Growth Movement".
